Indexing backlinks is essential – but difficult
The only reason to build backlinks is to move Google rankings. If you are reading this blogpost, you agree. Backlinks is the number one ranking factor, that how the Google algorithm has been from the beginning. The problem we face as SEO experts is not to build the links. Its go get them indexed.
We put a variety of indexing methods to the test, in order to figure out, what works best, and which methods provide the most reliable way of getting our backlinks indexed.
Conclusion: Primeindexer is the clear winner. We scored a 91% indexing rate of cloud links and backlinks using primeindexer.
1. PrimeIndexer: Best bulk Google indexing tool for small budgets
If you need consistent indexing of large batches of backlinks, primeindexer offers a solution that is the best of all worlds. Its cheap, fast, and reliable. It indexes all sorts of backlinks. We tested Primeindexer on these types of links:
- social media posts
- cloud links
- pbn links
- press releases
- google stack links
- profile links
Primeindexer indexed all the above links. Even the most tough to index cloud links was indexed with Primeindexer.
Userfriendly interface
Its very easy to use Primeindexer. You just create a project, add your urls, and determine if you want dripfeed indexing or not. Dripfeed indexing deliver your links to the indexing machine over a period of time. This can be practical if you want your backlinks campaign to look more natural.
Once the project has been created, you dont need to do anything. Primeindexer sends the links to the indexing. You can follow the progress in the backend.
Indexing in two minutes
We see indexing times in two minutes, and sometimes as low as 30 seconds when using Primeindexer. This is by far, the fastest third party indexing tool we have ever seen.
Conclusion: Primeindexer is the clear winner by a strong margin.
2. Google Search Console: The Free Standard Everyone Should Use
We all know (and love?) Google search console. Even though Google Search Console does a lot of other things, one of the most valuable things is, it can index your webpages. The only downside is, you do need to own the domain that you want to index.
You add the domain to your GSC account, and then you can add urls you want to have crawled and indexed. When Google Search Console indexes webpages, it typically takes between 24-48 hours, so not as fast as Primeindexer.
Google Search Console is Googles own system. This gives you a major advantage, as you get direct feedback from Google, if your pages are not indexed. You can see why, as Google explains it.
We dont recommend relying only on Google Search Console for indexing, as its not as effecient and fast as Primeindexer.
3. IndexNow Protocol: Free Instant Notifications to Multiple Search Engines
IndexNow is a protocol supported by several major search engines including Bing and Yandex that allows you to notify them immediately when you publish or update content. The best part? It’s completely free to use. You simply generate an API key, add a small verification file to your website, and then ping the IndexNow endpoint whenever you create or modify a page.
Many popular content management systems and plugins now support IndexNow natively, which means you might be able to enable it with just a few clicks. While Google doesn’t officially participate in IndexNow yet, getting instant indexing on Bing and other search engines still drives traffic and helps your content get discovered faster. For budget-conscious website owners, this is pure value with zero cost, and it takes less than an hour to set up properly.
4. Rank Math SEO Plugin: Free WordPress Indexing Features Built In
WordPress users on a budget should take a close look at Rank Math, a free SEO plugin that includes instant indexing features in its no-cost version. Once you connect it to your Google Search Console account, it can automatically submit new and updated posts for indexing without any manual intervention. This means every time you hit publish, the plugin handles the indexing request for you.
The free version is genuinely useful and not just a teaser for paid upgrades. You get legitimate indexing automation that would otherwise require a paid service or manual work. Installation takes just a few minutes, and the setup wizard walks you through the connection process step by step. If you’re already using WordPress and want to automate indexing without monthly fees, this plugin delivers solid value at exactly zero dollars.
5. Bing Webmaster Tools: Underrated Free Alternative with Instant Indexing
Most people focus exclusively on Google and overlook Bing Webmaster Tools, which is a mistake if you’re trying to maximize your reach on a budget. Bing offers a free URL submission tool that’s actually more generous than Google’s in some ways, allowing you to submit URLs and get them indexed relatively quickly. While Bing’s market share is smaller than Google’s, it still represents millions of potential visitors you might be missing.
Setting up Bing Webmaster Tools is free and straightforward, especially if you already have Google Search Console configured, since you can import your settings directly. The interface includes an instant URL submission feature that works similarly to Google’s but often processes requests faster. For websites trying to build traffic from multiple sources without spending money, adding Bing to your indexing strategy makes perfect sense and costs nothing but a small time investment.
6. Manual XML Sitemap Submission: Old School but Still Free
Sometimes the simplest approach is the most cost-effective. Creating and submitting an XML sitemap to search engines is a completely free method that still works well, especially for smaller websites. You can generate a sitemap using free online tools or plugins, then submit it through Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Search engines will crawl your sitemap regularly and index new pages they find there.
While this method isn’t as instant as some paid services, it costs nothing and provides reliable results over time. The key is keeping your sitemap updated whenever you add new content. Many content management systems generate sitemaps automatically, so you might only need to submit it once and let the system handle updates. For website owners with minimal budgets and a bit of patience, this approach provides solid indexing coverage without any financial outlay.
7. SEO Panel: Open Source Tool with Free Indexing Checker
SEO Panel is a free, open-source SEO control panel that includes various tools for managing your website’s search engine presence, including indexing status checkers. While it doesn’t submit URLs directly to Google for indexing, it helps you monitor which pages are indexed and which aren’t, so you can focus your efforts where they’re needed most. This saves you from wasting time or money trying to index pages that are already in Google’s database.
Being open source means you can install it on your own server at no cost beyond your existing hosting fees. The learning curve is steeper than some commercial tools, but the price is right for budget-conscious users willing to invest a bit of time. You’ll get a comprehensive view of your indexing status across multiple websites from a single dashboard, which is particularly valuable if you manage several properties and need to keep costs low.
8. Free Tier API Access: Google Indexing API for Specific Content Types
Google offers a free Indexing API specifically for certain types of content like job postings and livestream videos. If your website publishes these content types, you can use this API at no cost to get near-instant indexing. The setup requires some technical knowledge, as you’ll need to work with Google Cloud Platform and handle API authentication, but there are plenty of free tutorials available online.
The free quota is generous enough for most small to medium websites, giving you 200 requests per day at no charge. While this API doesn’t work for regular blog posts or standard web pages, it’s perfect if you run a job board, host live events, or publish time-sensitive content that falls within Google’s supported categories. For qualifying websites, this is essentially a free express lane to Google’s index that most competitors aren’t using.
9. Social Media Sharing: Free Indirect Indexing Boost
Here’s a strategy that costs nothing but can accelerate indexing indirectly: share your new content on social media platforms immediately after publishing. When you post links to Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, or Reddit, you create external signals that search engine crawlers often follow. While this isn’t a direct submission to Google, it increases the chances that crawlers will find and index your content faster.
High-traffic social platforms are crawled constantly by search engines looking for fresh content. When your link appears there, it acts like a beacon that guides crawlers back to your website. This method works best when combined with other free indexing strategies, but it requires zero budget and takes just a few minutes per post. Focus on platforms where your audience is active, and you’ll get the dual benefit of potential traffic plus faster indexing, all without spending a cent.
Conclusion
There are many ways to index a backlink. Google Search Console, sharing on social media etc. But the fastest and most reliable is using Primeindexer. Indexing times in two minutes, and an indexing rate of 91% is unmatched by the competition.
